Barber Jon cuts hair in the shop during the day, and on Monday evenings he ventures to the Morro Bay Vets Hall to serve at the community dinner. But, his service is not serving food, but, more haircuts, rather. These haircuts are special, in that he offers them at no charge for those who have found themselves in tough times. The Monday night community dinner is more than dinner and haircuts – an extensive food pantry provides free groceries and clothing is offered as well. Non-tangible benefits include conversation and a sense of community.
